“In my experience at my current position in Sequim, (this is my seventh year) we went through many challenges during Covid. As a result, I’ve had many different roles and responsibilities, including Teaching 12 classes of third fourth and fifth grade (in addition to my band responsibilities). While it was a challenge to be working across three campuses at the elementary school, middle school and high school, teaching at the elementary level has been quite rewarding! I greatly enjoyed the enthusiasm of the students and their mindset that “school is still cool! “. Connection with the younger students has also been very beneficial In the rebuilding of our program. This year I started an after school 5th grade band “Club” with community donated instruments that has been very successful. I have learned that when faced with challenges, there is always a solution, especially when it comes to our students, parents, school and community.”
